Michael Jackson Medley

Saturday, 12 September 2009 5:51 P GMT-05

OK. So I don't know who this guy is---never heard of him before until a friend passed along this video to me in an email.  This is a music video arrangement of the same guy singing various Michael Jackson tunes. I can't be positive, because there is so much hidden talent out there, but this just looks too damn professional to be coming from a couple of college kids---the guy singing these songs and the guy who did the mix on the video.  No offense to college students----it's just, if this is really the case and these guys are amateurs, then things have reeeeally changed since I went to college....lol

This is one great clip.....enjoy!

SORRY GUYS....The video is no longer available---it's property of the big 'O' and apparently the big 'O' doesn't play nice with her vids!! tisk tisk.

Holy Crap!!

I don't watch too much television so it's no surprise that I missed these girls on Oprah.....hell, I don't even know when this particular episode first aired (?). But these chicks are bloody phenomenal.

You know, what cranks up the envy factor for me isn't so much that these girls are drop dead beautiful, or incredibly talented, or even that they take on one of my most favorite Paul McCartney tunes and lay it down nearly as good, if not better.  Nope. It's none of that. It's the fact that they make it look so damn easy.....and it's not!! I used to play the violin and I never ever ever sounded anything at all like this. But I did crank out some pretty mean scales....lol  Seriously though, these girls R*O*C*K   You can learn more about them by clicking on the ESCALA link.  Bloody wow.

a place that you go to give

Saturday, 29 August 2009 4:40 P GMT-05

I saw a quote today that was posted on Facebook from Ken Rutkowski ; a quote I am positive at least some people out here will appreciate. Ken has this thing he does on Facebook called, 'My Thought For The Day'.

On Thursday, the following quote was Ken's thought for the day:

Some of the biggest challenges in relationships

comes from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something

They are trying to find someone who is going to make them feel good

In reality, the only way a relationship will last

is if you see your relationship as a place that you go to give

and not a place that you go to take

The Edlos William Tell Overture---great stuff

posted Wednesday, 24 June 2009

Sometimes I feel like I live in a cave. I've never heard of these guys until today while surfing, what has become, one of my newest favorite websites: Singers .

I learned a little about The EDLOS at Singers and listened to some of their most recent material but, it was at The EDLOS website where I discovered something from them totally unique.

They sing Rossini's, William Tell Overture.  Yes.  They put lyrics to the song and they sing it.  No instruments whatsoever. Nothing but vocals and nothing short of pure genius---an amazingly talented performance. When listening to the song and the lyrics, you learn that it took them 7 months to get the notes in the song right. I mean, let's be real, The William Tell Overture would so not be an easy number to take on and these guys pull it off flawlessly.

You might think it strange for someone like me, who loves the Beatles, all things Rock n Roll, and even the cheesy music from the 70s & 80s, that I would even take an interest in 4 guys singing The William Tell Overture.  But, even though I did grow up loving the Beatles and that cheesy 70s & 80s music, I also have a love for classical music, just as much---specifically Rossini. An old band instructor turned me on to Rossini's work when I was in 6th grade and it never left me.

I'm going to post a link here to The EDLOS singing William Tell but, if it doesn't work, you can find the link to the song at their webiste.

Oh. And it probably should also be mentioned that you kinda might have to know a little about how the song goes and Rossini's arrangement to appreciate this piece of work. Then again, maybe you don't know anything about The William Tell Overture but will find an appreciation for this piece, all the same. Great stuff.
